Quick Poll: Austin Nicholas (Travel Out There)

Having moved from the UK to Riga in the beginning of the 2000’s, and with over 15 years of experience in the events and DMC industry in Riga, he decided to establish Travel Out There. Travel Out There connects valued clients to a network of DMC professionals specialising in incentives and team building in Riga and beyond. Austin, and his team of event professionals, have created a meeting and Incentive guide to Riga on our blog. Austin is also the founder Riga United football club and managing partner of the Riga Business network

- I organized my first ever event in

University. I used to run a series of events called 'Tostas Mistas'.  The format of the event...I would make an agreement with a bar, cook toasted sandwiches for everyone, charge a fee on the door that would be my direct revenue and also make a commission on the drinks receipt.  It was a format that worked well and enjoyed by many!

Straight after University I ran a series of Comedy Nights in a venue in Slough, UK. The 'Comedy Hanger'.

- My last event was …

www.riga500.com.  the largest networking event in Latvia.

- Event of my dream (which is still in future) is …

To run a connecting strategic retreat for all the best entrepreneurs across the planet....coming together to work on a joint-project to help make the world a better place.

- To be successful in events you must be

Passionate, Professional and Personal.  These are our 3 main guiding qualities at Travel Out There

- Conferences & Incentives of the future will be …

Will put a greater emphasis on CSR / incorporate a give back element to the programme.

I also think there will a need to really connect with the people you are going on the experience with but disconnect from the world of tech.

- Successful event means …

constantly be remarked on....'remarkable'.  An event that encourages more people to experience the destination or another event of a similar nature.

- The uniqueness of our agency lies in ...

all of our Event Architects being Passionate, Professional and Personal....(we also like to include punctual).  We are creative in our concepts and reliable in our execution.

- The key to our succes is...

Aiming to please because we care.

- MICE industry in Baltic region has a wonderful future because...

there are a few places in the world where it is so easy to 'connect' with one another.  Being connected to the internet is considered a human right in many parts of the Baltic States.  Yet on the other hand, there are many places in the region to be able to disconnect in untouched and beautiful nature. This contrast is what I think will help encourage more companies to experience the Baltic's!

- Our region may be interestiong for the foreign partners because...

of the innovative and exciting companies that are being developed here.  Skype, TransferWise, Nordigen etc.  These very disruptive tech companies are our biggest ambassadors.

- My next event forum is …

Baltic For Events Forum. And it is an opportunity to share some insights and work together more as an industry to promote the region on a global playing field.
