- What was your first event?

My first event was to organize training seminars throughout Latvia back in 1992 - 1993, when there were no mobile phones and the Internet! That was a huge challenge! It is much easier to handle events nowadays!


- What is your favorite part of planning an event?

I think the best part of event planning is to step out of your comfort zone and come up with some new solutions or initiatives! That could be challenging, but it provides extra motivation to do something new!


- In your opinion, what are the top event industry trends in 2016 and beyond?

I think the main trend not only for 2016, but also for the last 3 years, is that information on the Internet leads to more direct bookings from particular products’ suppliers (hotels, venues, restaurants, etc) and leaves less work for traditional DMCs. In turn, hotels and venues have gradually started to play the role of DMC/Event agencies.


- What do you expect from the Best of Baltic Events Forum?

Every meeting or industry gathering, whether it be forums or trade shows, allows people to exchange the latest information and trends among professionals. I think the Baltic for Events Forum can be a great platform, where industry professionals from the Baltic region and Europe can increase business together and exchange the latest trends and fads.
